Use of Existing OGC by Publishers

Unattainable Ideal
I certainly come down on the pro-OGC side. I'm working on a ruleset that's based on a couple of existing "technologies" -- if I can use that term to describe rules -- and expanding/completing/adapting them. The end result should be compatible with the existing systems, but offer new options and fun stuff for players. The publishers I've contacted about it have been unanimously generous and straightforward about it (especial props to Benjamin at Bad Axe), and it ultimately benefits the hobby by making multiple products coordinate with each other easily.

As far as making it easy -- I have no issues with publishers who don't want electronic, easily-copied versions of their hard work floating around the internet. Everybody's tolerance for that sort of thing is at a different level, and people have a right to treat THEIR property any way they like. Declaring something is OGC doesn't mean you give up all rights of ownership. It doesn't make it "public domain".
