Useless Character combo?

so then if the combo is do-able, what sort of progression would be the best IYO?

maybe some help with feats too?

It depends what you're going for... My suggestions?

Always take the Natural Spell feat. If your party is light on healing, consider the Spontaneous Rejuvenation option from PHBII. You might also want to consider the Decisive Strike option from PHBII - particularly since you'd be flurrying with penalties.

Most(okay, all) Monk/Druid builds will also want the Practiced Spellcaster feat.

Monk 2/Druid X/Sacred Fist - I'd have to look to see how well Sacred Fist interacts with Wild Shape. I don't know off the top of my head.

Monk 2/Druid X/Nature's Warrior - This is a nice option. Best BAB. Spell progression most levels. Always-on Wildshape boosts.

Monk 2/Druid X/Warshaper - The first level of Warshaper is always tempting. The other levels are too, but the lack of spell progression will hurt.

An odd - but effective - feat to consider with this sort of build: Quick Reconnoiter. You'll have a high Wisdom, spot and listen are class skills, and you'll often have a nice racial bonus to one or both of them. +2 to initiative never hurts, either.

Wow, talk about intentionally nerfing a character. I hope the Warrior levels were taken first.

Well no one I've gamed with has done that but in some "other" campaings Warrior was taken first then fighter. Still pretty darned nerf, even for a low level game.

I prefer monk, personally.... Consider the 20th level dwarven monk with permahaste 3.0
A Commoner could be an effective party member with permahaste 3.0. You're not helping your case much.

I believe it's from unearthed arcana, but there's a druid varient that works if you don't like wildshape.

Druid
The druid might choose to give up her wild shape ability in exchange for becoming a swift and deadly hunter.

Gain
Bonus to Armor Class when unarmored (as monk, including Wisdom bonus to AC), fast movement (as monk), favored enemy (as ranger), swift tracker (as ranger), Track feat (as ranger).

Lose
Armor and shield proficiency, wild shape (all versions).

Anger,

I've seen worse...

Fighter/Warrior comes to mind...

but one can give a fair background that justfies that very easily ... especially for an NPC who starts off as a simple caravan/town guard but moves on to even more military pursuits.

but yah, not a very good m/c combo

ok...so I have changed gears a bit to a Cleric/monk/sacred Fist. Looks like it would be Clr1/Mnk6/ScrdFstX. The sacred fist allows almost complete spell progession, only losing 2 levels, plus adding to the monks unarmed damage, fast movement, AC bonus , etc.... However, I have no clue as to what feats to take for an unarmed fighting character to really get the most bang. I know of Defensive Throw, Improved trip and all that, but what else? I saw one that gives a +1d6 to unarmed damage, another that adds 1d12 dmg when you charge, leaping attack.....can you guys give a guy some help on feats?

Oh, and most likely I would need to make up my own lesser diety, which the DM might be cool ith. I would want to make one who had war as a domain but used unarmed strike as their favorite weapon, so I get the Weapon Focus for another +1 to hit, I know it isn't much and I wont lose sleep over it if it is a no go but hey at least I tried.

What campaign world are you playing in? IIRC, Greyhawk has a monkish demipower named Zuoken whose favored weapon is unarmed strike; a psionic PrC is named after him, the fist of Zuoken (found in the XPH, which also has info on his religion).

As for your build, the same article I mentioned in my previous post includes a cleric/monk PrC, which could be tacked on after sacred fist.

Regarding feats, Improved Natural Attack is good, if your DM allows it (some do, some don't). If you're going for a good alignment, BoED has a few monk feats.

Now that I think about it, Druid/Monk/Bard could get into Fochluan Lyricist pretty easily.

Oooh. . . I never thought of that. That would be cool. . . I was always thinking Rogue. Of course, you'd have to monkey with alignment to fit the Lyricist alignment restrictions. Not too serious of a problem though.

Or Storm of Vengeance. Go check out the Tales of Wyre story hour to see how Nwm (at the time he was not an epic level character) wiped out an entire army.

By himself.
I know. ;)

I was one of the annoying readers waiting 6 months and more for updates.

Best druid/monk progression? I'd stay with one level of monk, when you take it doesn't really matter if you survive that long. As soon as you can wildshape, get Improved Trip. Wolves with monkish AC bonus rock.
