Using d20 Modern / Future for STAR WARS

Great post as usual, Ranger Reg.

Ewheeler,,, I can understand why you and your group are hesitant in getting the Star Wars core book. WOTC is a very greedy company and they'll most likely revise the core book to fleece us, the hardcore fans, out of our money. I'll definitely buy it just like I bought the other two editions. The point is that you and your group don't have to buy them. You can very easily buy the original core book on ebay, or game stores, for ten to fifteen dollars

BTW, what are your feeling on buying the source books for SW? If you're not against them, I would suggest the Ultimate Alien Anthology. I have used the aliens in that book in campaigns for Star Wars, Modern, Traveler, StarGate and Babylon 5

As already suggested I would buy a used d20 SW book just to get the force-using classes. Then, this would not prevent your players from still using classes straight from d20 modern. Think about it: SW universe is a galaxy of thousands planets. As such two books, the SW classes, and the modern /future classes are but a very few of all the various classes that could exist in this universe. In any case, the classes from SW could represent special training (i.e.: like the jedi), when d20 modern basic classes could represent more common people.

About psionics for the force. If you don't buy a used copy of d20 SW or the Psychic's Handbook, IMO the best thing would be to use the psionics presented in d20 modern. Battlemind would be a jedi guardian, and telepath would be a jedi consular.

Just my 2 cents of course.
