I used the D&D Detroit Meetup to find most of my current group.
My experience, though, is that a lot of D&D Meetup members refuse to attend a meetup unless you guarantee there'll be a game at the meeting. The lets-meet-and-arrange-some-games approach just doesn't work for most of them. This seems especially true for the younger set; most of the turnout at the Detroit meetups has been 1E and 2E guys.
