Using music in the game

Hello all,

Tell me of the way you use music to enhance your game.

Follows my examples: (I draw from Mercedes Lackey's music. Lyrics can be found on http://www.geocities.com/Ravenfield_vale/lyrics.html)
I my game the resident bard has several signature songs tied to his bard abilities. We put it when he invokes the ability. In addition to provide a nice back ground, it helps us to remember to include the effect.
Overall it slow down play at times, but its a small trade off for the added enjoyment. And that is what is important, right?

Bard Music
Countersong-"Shield Spell"
Fascinate- the couplet
[Then the mage moved his hands and the crowd its noise
Each one staring as hard as he could
And at last, she looked up and he gestured once more
And the people froze still where they stood.] from the captive
Inspire Courage-"The Swordlady"
Inspire Competence-"Fundementals"
Inspire Greatness-Warrior
Song of Freedom-'The Vrondi eyes'
Inspire Heroics-'Shin'a'in Warsong'

Other good ones are that I have used: Dark ending(for long running villain demise), 'Blade of desire' for an intelligent blade, strong willed too (23 ego). And 'Oathbreakers' as priest hymn (one of his domain is Justice)

For minstrels (when visiting an inn or when invited to a dinner in a castle):"Demonbane",'A serious business', 'Price of commanding','Advice to Would-be Heroes','Magic's price'.

Please share your choices. :)

The biggest problem that I have found with music in a game is what one player likes another loathes, and vice-versa.

For example, I have two players who love, love, love Metal. One is more a Top 40 R&B person. Another is into New Age. I like Goth and Classical. There is music I think of as "fighting music" that seems boring to the others, and music that the metalheads like that I find simply loud and repetitive.

When using music ... know your audience... ;)
