Using the Watchers from Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Even without the "Desperado"-song episode, Giles seemed to me more of a Bard than anything else. He's got Bardic Knowlege for every occasion, and much of what he does in terms of pep talks could be represented as inspiring confidence / greatness.

If only he took Chromatic Orb...

I have to agree that Giles is the man.

Wesley becomes less of a pure weakling in Angel's series. Infact he was brought in as a 'Rogue Demon Hunter' (Shall we say a rather unsuccessful one?) after being fired from the Watchers.

And, yes, the Watchers do have their 'Cleanup Crew'. This crew has been seen several times, in regards to Faith, as well as Angelious, and also in Angel's series when there was the Buffy/Angel crossover regarding Faith. They had guns, and could seriously drop the punch.

Also, let's not forget that the Watchers also might have some Mystical connections. Giles had connections with some otherworldly spellcaster (The one who 'pretended' to steal Angel's soul during the 3rd or 4th season, I forget). So there may be some benign demons and otherworldy creatures who have an alliance with the Watchers.

Though we are starting to almost wander off topic but it's still a good discussion.

To try to help it back on point. The watchers or at least some have training but not experience. Difference between low level characters and higher level.

Not many have actually faced the vampire, demon etc on a daily/weekly basis. As evidenced by Giles and Wesley that this exposure tempers the training they have.

Giles got better and better at fighting as has Wesley. If any one cuaght last nights Angel you see Wesley tarvel back,at least in memory, till he was college or late prep school. He knew about the supernatural, he had some small amount of weapons training, he seemed to be raised/trained for the Watchers.

So the watcher's seem to be made of old school (Wesley) and recruits (Giles) and both have different methods of working.

Hell until Wesley got some experience and confidence he was a crappy, clumsy fighter at best now he is a true danger. He can handle two or three vamps at once. I think Giles was the same except for the clumsy and the scream like a woman part wesley had.

And more evidence about the watcher's to shape its "Personality"
These are quotes/paraphrases (Since my memory is crap and I'm a fanboy but not a Fanatic Fan boy)

Watcher leader type " We are fighting a war"
Giles " Buffy is Fighting your war not you"

Leader type again "The Boy (Zander) doesn't do anything for your team"
Buffy " That Boy has more field time then all of you combined"

They are truely watcher's with only a few actually seeming to do much more.
