Do you have wizard's guilds? I see where you are going with the magician sub-classes, but was wondering if there were organizations for casters.
Mostly to see what you do to inform further refinement of what I do.My old homebrew setting did, but that is not something I have developed for this one (yet). I do have three magic schools that I have mentioned and may develop further not only as schools, but as places where the mages they train are shaped towards specific agendas.
Why do you ask? Or did you have something specific in mind?
Yeah. I used to love prestige classes tho to be honest in 16 years of running and playing 3E, only saw one character take one.Mostly to see what you do to inform further refinement of what I do.
I have three active guilds. They have limited curated spell lists and a special ability at fifth level. There are some "lost traditions" that PCs can learn from using feats. I think I mentioned those in a different thread.
In the past, I would have made Prestige Classes for them (which I prefer over sub-classes). Looking forward I may make them more sub-class -like depending how much of 5e I absorb in the future.
I only had two used. I made 8 of them, 5 level, five for martials and three for casters.Yeah. I used to love prestige classes tho to be honest in 16 years of running and playing 3E, only saw one character take one.
I probably will build the schools around triads of arcane schools but not sure how that will effect the game in a mechanical way.
