Vehicle Combat

What resources do folks like or use most for vehicle combat and/or vehicle construction?

I havent found a single resource that I like as a stand alone system for such stuff and tend to mix n match stuff and am looking for feedback on what others prefer.

When I say vehicle I mean anything from a horse drawn wagon to bio-spacecraft. Watercraft surface and submarine and even 'mechs. From fantasy to 'hard' sci-fi.

I guess the question is pretty broad in scope but I am after as much information on what folks use as I can get. :D

The Arms and Equipment Guide has the official D&D vehicle rules.

D20 Modern has the official modern vehicle rules. Of course you can get this from the D20 SRD if you don't want to buy D20 Modern (although you should. It's an excellent set of rules).

Star Wars D20 has some excellent space combat rules.

FFG's Dragonstar setting has a different set of rules to handle space vehicles and combat.

Blood and Space by RPG Objects (www.rpgobjects.com) is another excellent source of space vehicle and combat rules (I believe they're based off the FFG rules, but I don't recall all the details).

Hope that helps.

Don't forget Spycraft...
That chase system is just goodly funness.
Only played with it a few times, but it's just very entertaining...

But, that's chases, not combat. I don't really remember there being that much there if both vehicles are actually facing off... well, that much there that was all that special or anything.

nobody else?

Anybody use the various watercraft books? Which ones do they prefer? I have browsed FFG's ship book but havent seen any of the others yet and from what I saw of FFG's book some of the naval combat could have been a bit more detailed(more options, expanded dc lists and such).

Which 'mech, powered armor, and even 'rideable' construct(golems) books to folks prefer?

Silhouette is my system of choice - it's fast, intuitive, and meshes seamlessly with the roleplaying system. Vehicle construction is effects-based (you decide what you want it to do, figure out the cost, and that's it - no screwing around with weight, powerplant,, space, etc...the engineers are assumed to make it work the way you specify it). It's scalable, and works wonderful as a stand-alone system. It's used in all of the Dream Pod 9 games that have vehicles, and the new version in the Silhouette Core Rules rocks on toast.
