Vehicle creation guide?

I've only just started posting here, so forgive me if this question has been asked before, or if this is in the wrong forum.

I'm working on a homebrew setting for d20 Modern set in another world that has equivelent technology to 1940-1950s Earth and I'm having trouble coming up with stats for some of the vehicals. Normally I would simply alter some of the vehicals in the core rulebook but, last time I checked there weren't a whole lot of prop driven bombers or fightercraft in d20 Modern.

I was really looking forward to d20 Future as I had high hopes that I would be able to use whatever set of vehicle creation rules they would have, but alas there were no such rules.

Can anyone help me out?

You could check out the vehicle creation rules in T20 they are incredibly detailed. An I believe it allows you to design anything from steam engine and beyond.

Blood and Circuits (available at RPGNow) has some nice (IMO) vehicle creation rules.

However, as Masada mentioned, Hell on Earth has some nice vehicle stats for the era in question.

There are some fairly well researched d20 modern rules for vehicles from the 1930s and 1940s in Hell on Earth

I began by researching the vehicles that are presented in the d20 Modern book. I then deconstructed their game stats to figure out formulas for generating similar stats of my own.

Maneuverability and initiative were determined using the vehicle's weight to horse-power ratio. Range, Crew, Passengers, defense, and size, were fairly obvious and easy to determine. Hardness was based on mm of (frontal) armor and modified for craftsmanship. HP were based on weight, size and, craftsmanship. Speed was calculated using the top speed converted into feet and divided by a seemingly random number that the WotC must have pulled out of their arse.

I should point out that after donig all that, it is my firm opinion that the rules for vehicles in d20 modern are not particularly accurate. I suspect the designers spent very little time actually researching the vehicles in that book.

Having used the stats for both land and air vehicles presented in Hell on Earth I would suggest anyone interested in 1930's-1940's aircraft/vehicles pick them up. We ran several aircraft battles within our campaign, and the stats worked out very well. There are a good many of them too, which covered most everything I wanted to throw at the players.

I haven't checked out Blood and Circuits yet, but I'm betting it is worth a look-see for creation rules. I've had a lot of luck with their products in the past when it comes to 'creation rules', whether for gear, or powers, or martial arts styles.

Thanks to everyone for all of the great suggestions. I now have several books to save up for!

If anyone still wants to throw in their $0.02 USD please feel free, I'm sure i'm not the only one getting some tips from this!
