Vest and Resistance and cloak of resist same price?

I shall never forget the time I was going on a tirade about affinities and went off on how the vest slot didn't have affinity for resistance, and how I hated the vest of resistance. Then one of my players informed me that I had okayed the vest of resistance a month ago, and that he had been using one for all that time, obviously worried that I would take it away. I just kinda grumbled quietly and let the matter drop.

*twitch* Darn vest of resistance should be 1500 gp. *twitch*

I think the reason that item was introduced is so sorc's (and other charisma reliant folk) don't get the shaft, save wise. They have to use the cloak slot for Cloaks of Charisma.

I'd rather they added a new Cha-increasing item. Cloak has long seemed like the silliest of the stat-boosting items. You can carry that headband or periapt wherever you want, pretty much, and it probably isn't going to look overly silly ("Yes, I'm going to take a bath while wearing my cloak, why do you ask?"), and looking at the affinity rule, cloak seems to miss it by a long shot.

A piece of jewelry would seem much more appropriate, like a headband (if Wisdom and Constitution can chare an item slot, Int and Cha could too).

A vest should cost more for exactly that reason. Even at relatively low levels, I've seen many item-slot conflicts for cloaks. An item that avoids that conflict by taking a little-used slot is worth more.

While wizards get to wear the headband without really any conflict at all. It was one of the more subtle ways sorcs got screwed, and Complete Arcane fixed it.

Any item can be made put in a differant slot for a price increase, so the only point in publishing an official one was exactly because it has a lower price than the item pricing guidelines suggest. (And note that they are exactly that: guidelines, not rules.)

Wizards has said that the table of body slot affinities is incomplete and notes that many of their own items dont follow that table either.

The table of affinities is also an optional guideline thats there only to create a reason for there to be a seperate Forge Ring feat....
