VHS to DVD

I have a slew of VHS tapes from years ago and I want to burn their content to DVD. I have the PC system to handle video editing but I don't have a clue on what I need to transfer the VHS tapes from my VCR to my computer.

So, what do I need? The only way I know is to capture them from my VCR to ? to my PC.

Also, any recommended software that won't cost an arm and a leg?

If the tapes aren't copy protected, then IMHO, it's probably cheapest and easiest to buy a standalone DVD recorder (Walmart has them for as cheap at $40, maybe less) and use that, connecting the output of the VCR to the input of the DVD recorder.

You're going to need at least a Video Capture card. If you want to edit the video, you'll also need Video Editing software.
