Be aware there are two different versions of the Geforce GTX 260, one with 192 cores and a newer one with 216 cores. You want the newer one.

Also, The Geforce GTX 260 (216) will have it's price lowered soon: Incoming Price drop on GTX260

If that card at Fry's has 216 cores it's a real bargain, price cuts or not. EVGA is a good brand, and from what I've heard their support is probably the best in the industry.

"Cores" == shader pipelines. And the one on special is 192, not 216 - as I referred to in the initial "on sale" post.

Still, for all that, it's a very decent card for the price. You've got until tomorrow to get it at that price.

Took me 4 months but I finally pulled the trigger on a GTX 260. Superclocked with 216 cores. In the end it will set me back $165 after rebate. Got the card on Monday and the reviews weren't kidding when they said it was huge. Luckily I have a huge case (plus I measured ahead of time) so that wasn't an issue.

Loving it so far! Games, even the non-graphics intensive ones, are running lightning fast now with zero hiccups. Again, thanks for all the help gents!

Good choice, even now. It's been a solid contender since it came out (the 216 core version). And that was a while ago now.

I'd say that and the 275 are both excellent value, if you know how and where to shop. :) And yeah, most games will do what they're told, no problems at all.

Yeah, I was a tad surprised that it was still at the "sweet spot" price and not a bit lower or that something hadn't taken its place. I coulda sworn the tech upgrades quarterly or somethig like that. But all the review sites, plus those here had it as the clear winner for what I was looking to spend plus other factors. :)

Well, last year was kind of crazy. But we've been in something of a lull since early spring. Nothing major new, nothing major expected until fall.
