Video Cards: GeForce or Radeon?

Just a word of warning. I have several friends that have had problems with ATI cards that are believed to be related to the Nforce chipset on certain AMD mobos. The Nforce chipset is made by Nvidia and they recommend their cards for use with it.

Hmmm... So is an AMD board with an ATI chipset similarly better suited to running with an ATI card?

I have used both cards on and off for years and really haven't had any big problems with either. I like nVidia's drivers and support a bit better but my main rig has the newest All in Wonder ATI card and is working great for all the extras and gaming so go figure.

My research is about a month old but the suggestions above for the 6600GT are right on from what I can remember.

Actually, no (unless you're made of money and an ATi fanboy, so are playing around with Crossfire). Use an nVidia chipset with an AMD CPU, and if/when Intel CPUs are competitive for gaming again (no sooner than mid-2006, with the launch of the "Pentium 5" CPU), use Intel chipsets with Intel CPUs.

Heh, thanks for answering that. I don't know much at all about Crossfire!
