Just have gems that can add/change stuff in armour and weapons. Little to no though required.

I think there's a little more thought required than you think. First of all, how many slots would go into each item? Would you do ten for everything? Would you put a weapon or armor bonus in a single gem? If so, does that mean each bonus would take up a single slot, whether it's a +1 or +5 bonus? Would a +5 bonus gem take up 5 slots?

For spells, does each gem hold a spell and if put in a weapon allows the person to use the spell 1/day and if put in an armor protect that person from the spell?

Would we get rid of Summon Materia or have one summon in each gem?

And what about leveling them? Do they level , or is there no leveling at all? If the Materia level, what happens when they level?

Perhaps you could easily answer these questions, but what about balancing issues?

Whatever. If you think it's easy, give me some stats for them. If you do, I would certainly like to see them and work on fitting them into my campaign.

I'd remove Common from the moogle's language list, though...they don't say much other than....
Have you ever played Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced? Your closest bud, Montblanc, is a Moogle and he speaks quite a lot. Personally, I don't think he said kupo ENOUGH.

I've given some thought to Materia, too, though unfortunately I've never put any of it in writing. Here's my thoughts, in a nutshell:

-Magic materia: priced as a 1/day command word item, and can be used as such.
-Spellcasters can cast a spell from a materia they have equipped by powering it with an equal or greater level spell slot, provided that spell is on their class list.
-Independant materia/command materia: like any normal buffing wondrous item.
-All costs multiplied by, say, 1.5x over the normal item pricing guidelines.. slots are limited, but not so much so as conventional body slots.
-Any item can have any number of slots for a relatively small cost per slot (limited by size, perhaps).
-Materia with multiple spells: priced using the usual guidelines for multiple abilities in a slotless item.
-Support materia: pricing would be similar to the metamagic rods, and for the sake of simplicity it would always apply its metamagic effect to the linked materia. More esoteric ones would have unique descriptions - Elemental linked to a magic materia with an elemental descriptor would add that property to a weapon, or add that resistance to armor.

I'm sure there was more, but that's all that comes to mind right now.

And for Sollir: Mime or Calculator, please? ;)

Frukathka: I'd need a list of Alucard's abilities from Castlevania, as I only have limited experience of the series (check my first post for details) and I'd imagine I'd also have to come up with a variant vampire template for the game series.

Ferret: I'm not sure how different Dark Link was from Link himself other than appearance and the fact that he was all shadowy looking-unless you're talking about the original nintendo game Dark Link perhaps? I might take away a level away from Link and add the Shadow template in Manual of the Planes-unless you're looking for something more specific, which if that's the case, give me a brief description of the abilities you'd want him to have and I'll see if I could come up with a template for ya.

The Materia system I'd do very similar to what Impeesa, with just a slight change. Basically, "Slotted" would be a type of enchantment, so "1 Slot" would be = to a +1 enhancement, "Double Slot" would be = to a +3 enhancement, "Triple Slot" would be = to a +5 enhancement and then you could switch around the various materia (which would have their own costs and such) I'll expand on this later when I have more time.

Impeesa, I'll attempt to fulfill your request when I can =)

Good point. I did mean from OoT, from what I remember it might have been a spell, imitates you, and tries to kill you.

I don't know now. A shadow template would work, but it had an uncanny nack for dodging, and getting away.

In OoT, if you were standing on a reflective surface (the room in question was mostly covered in a thin layer of water) the Shadow Link (Dark Link?) copied EVERY action you made except Right handed (instead of Link's normal left-handedness) so that you couldn't hit it (every attack parried). In addition, if you DIDN'T attack, it would attack you.

While standing on the only non-reflective surface in the room, it's AI got weaker, not copying EVERY action, and making its own attacks less frequently.

Additionally, it only copied Link's primary weapon... his sword. If you pulled out another weapon, say, the Megaton Hammer, you could hit it without it attacking back (except for the attacks it makes by its own initiative).

Instead of a template or creature, Dark Link would make a better SPELL, perhaps called "Shadow Mirror" or something like that. On the other hand, the Shadow Link from Zelda II: The Adventure of Link was a different beast altogether, and IS deserving of its own template or race. Let me see if I can dig up more details on it.

Have you tried a PrC for Devil May Cry (the first one)?

In a nut shell, he gains abilities based on his half demon nature and by using specific melee weapons.

One weapon is a sword that allows his demon form to focus on speed. It uses electrical based attacks and allows a limited dgree of flight. The sword (either two handed or bastard) used rapid strikes, combos, charging thrusts, and could be thrown

The other weapon is a set of guanlets that allow his demon form to focus on strength and power. His attacks are fire based, but tend to be much slower. I know he threw fireballs, but I'm not sure what else iot could do.

I've barely gotten to the last levels. I know there is a third weapon, but I'm not sure what it does. Can anyone help me out?

Giving this a bump. I've added a new PrC to the top of the second post of this thread called Knight of the Sacred Order, based off of Ky Kiske from Guilty Gear. Expect PrCs based off of Testament and Zato-One/Eddie soon ^_^
