I remember, pre-pandemic, when 3D TVs were going to be the big thing and there were one or two E3 shows where they were pushed heavily as the future of TV.I think it is naive to just assume they won't get better and cheaper like every other technology ever.
You mean you didn't grow up with any laserdisc in your house??I remember, pre-pandemic, when 3D TVs were going to be the big thing and there were one or two E3 shows where they were pushed heavily as the future of TV.
Maybe everyone has one but my family, but I don't think every technology gets better and cheaper or even survives.
I don't think these are of a kind.I remember, pre-pandemic, when 3D TVs were going to be the big thing and there were one or two E3 shows where they were pushed heavily as the future of TV.

3d, in all of its incarnations, is more of a gimmick than a technologyI remember, pre-pandemic, when 3D TVs were going to be the big thing and there were one or two E3 shows where they were pushed heavily as the future of TV.

How about the metaverse, a technology so important that Facebook renamed itself after it? Anyone metaversing now, either in their home or workplace?3d, in all of its incarnations, is more of a gimmick than a technology
If Meta had actively wanted to kill off that whole approach and to ensure it didn't become mainstream they honestly couldn't have done a much better job than by making it look like trash, making it look really hard to do (it isn't), blowing tens of billions (literally! $47 billion!!!) on it, and completely failing to achieve or advance anything, in fact ending up far behind, say Second Life circa 2008 or say, VRChat, both of which were cobbled together on on a budget more than 10000x (literally) lower. How about the metaverse, a technology so important that Facebook renamed itself after it? Anyone metaversing now, either in their home or workplace?
