Video Games You Wish Existed

There are technically a few others:

HROT - Very directly Quake inspired: Amid Evil - Actually Heretic 2 inspired but thus Quake-like: Gravelord - Sort of situated between Quake and Doom gameplay-wise with some modern elements too: Wrath: Aeon of Ruin - Literally runs on the Quake engine and very Quake inspired but people have opinions about it lol:
Basically Dusk is the only straightforward Quake successor I can think of, most of them mix it up with a number of other games and go for faster-paced more frenetic stuff which is less... Quake-y.

Painkiller was also a Quake spiritual successor but has since become kind of its own thing.
I missed some of those somehow.

Having recently come off a major Final Fantasy Tactics kick (via the Ivalice Chronicles remaster) ... I want an honest-to-God FFT sequel.
My wife really wants this to happen sometime too. It won't, I suspect, all the people who could make it are scattered, but I wish it would. I think even a fairly 8/10 by-the-numbers official sequel with a big campaign would sell insanely on the legend and nostalgia of FFT, so Square should really think on that.

There are a couple of decent FFT-ish indies but they always either don't have much of a campaign or try to really simplify the formula (which makes some sense, FFT is towards the complex end for indie game design in some ways), but I don't think any have quite nailed it (where Fire Emblem-likes have got closer).

Thinking of games that should happen but probably never will: Black & White 3. I know Molyneux's new game might scratch a significant part of that itch, but not the "giant AI monster" part. I may have already posted about this upthread but I still want a modern B&W successor set inside computers with a TRON-ish aesthetic called RGB. Naturally red would be "bad" , green "neutral", and blue "good" . You are still a god, but you are operating in this realm because the "real" world has becoming inured to miracles. And bit monsters and their transformations could be so freakin' cool.

I think I have all of those except Gravelord, and unfortunately none of them really feel like Quake to me. and Hrot in particular feels very janky to me

Thank you though

I want some more games to try to make combat systems out of things that aren’t exactly fighting in the traditional sense. More serious example: a diplomacy system where arguments are essentially treated like attacks. More comedic examples (which are easier for me to come up with): driving off rogue doctors with apples (like a parody of Faith: the Unholy Trilogy), or kissing opponents so hard they get too dazed and flustered to go after you anymore.
It's not a videogame, but the TTRPG Exalted has an extensive social combat system

I want an old Grand Theft Auto style "go around the city causing mayhem," except your characters are a roster of escaped zoo animals.

The objective would be to find a way to get back to your native habitats - by slipping onto a boat or a truck or something - or finding a mate and becoming an invasive species.

You'd be able to swap between, like, a giant anaconda, a zebra, some tropical birds, etc etc. And by causing mayhem in different parts of the city, you could create openings the other animals could take advantage of.

Everyone would play the penguins from Madagascar.

I would definitely play that
