As a general rule, movies based on video games suck. Occasionally there are exceptions: The original Mortal Kombat movie, while not a classic, was quite entertaining and similar to a 1970s kung fu action flick.
This thread is to ask people the question: Which video games would you really like to see made into a good movie. Here are a few of my picks:
Castlevania: I've been a fan of these games ever since I was in grade school. I'd love to see an action/horror movie depicting the Belmont clan's centuries-long struggle against the forces of darkness. Featuring hordes of undead and demonic creatures as well as horror icons like the wolfman, the mummy, and Count Dracula, this movie could be everything that Van Helsing should have been.
Warcraft: A full-length CGI animated Warcraft movie made by Blizzard's cinematics department would be too cool for words. High adventure, epic battles, and orcs that are just as deep and likable any of the humans in the series.
Diablo: Yep, another Blizzard title. This one would be a mix of fantasy and horror, and would hopefully explain what the hell happened to the world after the end of the Diablo II Expansion Pack.
Metroid: Sci-fi action as the original video game babe, bounty hunter Samus Aran, battles against insect-like space pirates and parasitic flying jellyfish. I think that Kristanna Loken (the T-X from Terminator 3) would be quite good in the lead role.
