Videogames that you'd like to see made into movies.

As a general rule, movies based on video games suck. Occasionally there are exceptions: The original Mortal Kombat movie, while not a classic, was quite entertaining and similar to a 1970s kung fu action flick.

This thread is to ask people the question: Which video games would you really like to see made into a good movie. Here are a few of my picks:

Castlevania: I've been a fan of these games ever since I was in grade school. I'd love to see an action/horror movie depicting the Belmont clan's centuries-long struggle against the forces of darkness. Featuring hordes of undead and demonic creatures as well as horror icons like the wolfman, the mummy, and Count Dracula, this movie could be everything that Van Helsing should have been.

Warcraft: A full-length CGI animated Warcraft movie made by Blizzard's cinematics department would be too cool for words. High adventure, epic battles, and orcs that are just as deep and likable any of the humans in the series. :D

Diablo: Yep, another Blizzard title. This one would be a mix of fantasy and horror, and would hopefully explain what the hell happened to the world after the end of the Diablo II Expansion Pack. :)

Metroid: Sci-fi action as the original video game babe, bounty hunter Samus Aran, battles against insect-like space pirates and parasitic flying jellyfish. I think that Kristanna Loken (the T-X from Terminator 3) would be quite good in the lead role.

Wow? is that even possible. No, I think MOrtal Kombat was probably the best movie video game and REsident Evil wasn't half bad either.

Honestly I'd like to see a good original Final Fantasy like Final Fantasy story on the big screen...even a sequal would be cool.

The Legend of Zelda is something that could be great if done right,

I'm not too sure about Castlevania as I'd be afraid that Simon Belmont's character would be too much like that short lived cartoon version However, if its done like helsing then i'm all for it.

The Shin Megasi series is pretty good too. It would make a great r rated movie.

Blizzard hinted that they would like to make a movie about Warcraft but that it would most likely be a live-action flick because of how ridiculously time consuming 3d animation is. At least, at the quality they do it.
Even so, I would like to see a movie set in the Warcraft or Starcraft movie.

I didn't think Doom was half-bad.
"What did you see up there?"
"It was some kind of...monkey."

Also, Metal Gear Solid would be really cool. As would Half-Life. Rumor has it Splinter Cell is gonna be made into a movie. Sam Fischer, of course won't be played by Micheal Ironside. Why you ask? Well put a picture of both them next to each other and spot 6709 differences.

Max Payne, but only if it kept that dark comicbook feel to it.

I think that's enough for now.

Oh oh, a good Alien vs. Predator would be nice.

City of Heroes. The two E3 'trailers' they did for it are fantastic.
Freedom Force
Chrono Cross
Lunar: Silver Star Story
Silent Hill
A Resident Evil with Leon
Prince of Persia
Grand Theft Auto :)
Several World of Warcraft areas would make a nice movie, or series

I'm going to have to travel back in time for my picks. But if I ruled the world, and could guarantee movies with decent budgets, actors, scripts, etc...

Bard's Tale (the original series, not the new one that's got nothing to do with the old ones)
Gabriel Knight (the first one)
Star Control

Just one...

Well let's see.

Wing Commander (No, realy, ignore the one with Freddy Prinze Jr in it. It never happened)
Ultima IV (In my top 5 all time for games played)
Castlevania - Could be cool, but hey had Van Helsing, so i'd feel like a ripoff of that.
Star Control II - Great plot, cool sci-fi, and an easy to do premise.
Legend of Zelda - Plenty of material.

Ones I'm not sure I'd want to see.
Metroid - Too much of one person against the environment. Not much human interaction, though I guess you could do one with Prime 2 fairly well.

System Shock
System Shock 2
Zak mcKraken ATAM
Planescape: Torment.
Dawn of War

Admittedly, the last two are more because I'd love to see a Planescape movie and a WH40K movie. ;)
