Cool!

Jeff Dee, half of the team that brought us Villains and Vigilantes years and years ago, has just released (finally) Living Legends - the new edition of the game.

There's a demo (http://www.io.com/unigames/ll/LL_DEMO.pdf) and he says he'll release it in PoD with the next edition... but the PDF is cool enough for me, and is easy printing!

I'm sooooo excited. I have a regular old-school supers kick going now.

Wow. I think I first stumbled onto the Living Legends website something like three or four years ago, and it looked like an abandoned game back then. Never thought to see it released. I wonder what prompted Jeff Dee to finish it?

Hokey Smokes, Bullwinkle!

WOWWOWWOW! I am with you, SWBaxter! I saw pieces of this online over literally several years, but have not checked for quite a while. I will *absolutely* pick this one up! Heck, I think of V&V (and really, Living Legends is kind of a new edition of V&V) as the spiritual precursor to Mutants & Masterminds! Whee! :D

Ahh... Jeff Dee art. Rockin' it old school, baby. Good times, good times.

Whats with the new name?

I can't say for certain, but it sounds like more of the "positive language " crap PR rep dipwads use.

Crap Like;

Out of order being changed to "A service call has been made, please see staff for assitance."

Frank-

I am not certain, but I think it has more to do with a publishing rights/naming ownership issue for "Villains & Vigilantes". Unigames might have more details- here is the site:
http://www.io.com/unigames/vandv.html

IIRC, FGU Has the rights to the name "Villains & Vigilantes", apparently as long as the original game is still "in print". The FGU owner just barely prints enough to maintain legal status, apparently wanting quite a bit of money from Mr. Dee for the name.

(That's what I remember from usenet several years ago.)

That's what I remember from the Living Legends site too, which I first visited way back in 1998, I think. I thought the game was dead but woot! thank god I was wrong! Now that FGU is selling V&V at Drivethrurpg they are making sales again, and I suppose they will never let go of the name. Rat bastards.

Hey,

Just an FYI. From what I read Living Legends is being released in a "as is" state. From what I've read Dee is still working on the game so consider this a beta edition for lack of a better term.

Jack

hehe put me down as someone else who saw this years ago and thought it was dead. As I remember when I looked it over oh so long ago, it was not the V&V that I remember at all.

I might still give it a chance as I was a huge fan way back in the day (like the early 80's)
