Villains & Vigilantes is BACK!

Hey if you do adventure packs and maybe some villain books like Opponents Unlimited I am sold!!! :D

As a matter of fact, my current project is a Living Legends conversion of my unpublished book of V&V villains, "Most Wanted 2".

Good to see that you are still around and GOOD luck with LL... I am not a huge PDF fan but I might have to pick these up... man I LOVED V&V back in the day and still use a lot of the adventures and villains in my games :D

Now that I've learned how to jump through the necessary hoops to produce a Print on Demand book, I plan on making every LL book available in that format.

Out of curiosity, was the feline-type character on the cover of F.O.R.C.E. supposed to be Jack's "Mouser"? He wasn't green, but I always wondered about that.

Nope, that was some other cat guy. Mouser appears on page 73 of the new Living Legends update, and there's also a miniature of him by Lance & Laser Models:

While I'm back in trivia mode... Gauntlet appears on page 124, and there's a miniature of him as well.

BTW, I was always hoping that you'd do work in the comics field (I'd love to have seen your work on the X-Men before they took a slide into their current ridiculousity) but only ever saw you on the V&V mini-series, which I quite enjoyed, btw. Did you have any comic-gigs that I missed, or has the majority of your work been in the gaming industry?

I was the inker on The Badger from First Comics for a while... I also pencilled a few issues of Macross: New Generation from Comico. I inked the Power Lords (lame toy tie-in) mini-series for DC. And then there was that horrible thing I drew for DC's New Talent Showcase. My only work for Marvel is uncredited; I assisted Mike Gustovich by inking some background stuff in New Mutants #1. If you look real closely, you can find a copy of Villains & Vigilantes in the X-Men Mansion library.

I dunno, maybe they could use it when the Danger Room is out of service.

Well, seeing as how the Gauntelt illo. in the V&V book was one of the things that got me interested in the game in the first place I'll definitely have to give LL a look see.

You know, I think I recall a friend of mine who was a New Mutants fan and one of our V&V group point that picture out to me one day. We both thought it was prety cool.

I'm sorry to make a me-too type post, but I'd like to say I loved V&V also. It was the first non-D&D rpg I tried. I was drawn in by the same Dragon character-sample ads people have mentioned. Shatterman, Magnetor, and ... the girl with the power nunchuks! Kianna maybe? Whatever it was, she was too cool.

V&V modules became buy-on-sight for me; I had to have every one of them I could lay hands on. A lot of fun and imagination in them. Most of my rpg stuff has been thrown out, but I still have my stack of those.

The art was a big part of it as others have said. My first hero came complete with a belt with a long sash hanging off the side; no hero could be stylish without one!

Finally, I remember reading on a website a concern about work ethic, or doing real work. I think giving so much fun and creativity to people (especially kids, which I was at the time) counts as well-done work and a contribution to society.

The very first RPG adventure I ever ran successfully was a V&V adventure. There were three characters; Lightlord (light control, flight, force field etc.), The Amber Ghost (insubstantiality and Heightened Charisma; probably had other powers) and Z-Man (Willpower A..and that was it. The player only rolled 3 powers and hated his weakness so he dropped it. He could hold his breath for 11 minutes...) First thing Z-Man did was knock out a minion with a conveinently found rock and steal his Sonic Stunner so he could actually have an attack.

I rolled a character up once who had...Natural Weaponry and Armor B. I defined the Natural Weaponry as claws and put a limit on the Armor; it had to be activated and once it was the hero could do nothing but roll up into a ball for 1d6 rounds. Thus was born...The Amazing Armadillo-Man! Never actually played the guy but his background was a hoot to write :)

I bought Living Legends and have run a short adventure with it. It plays great. Yeah, its not V&V...less quirky in spots...but its a good game in its own right.

Jeff Dee was the guy responsible for me buying my first set of minis and creating my very first superhero characters. I mean, wow. WOW. Welcome, Jeff!

That said, time for an aside...we of ENWorld need to conspire to get Jeff and Phil Reed together for Superlink... :]
