Villains & Vigilantes is BACK!

I have recollections of Jeff Dee doing outstanding superhero artwork for V&V back in the day (Champions too, I think). A real master of dynamic anatomy. Am I confusing him with somebody else? The artwork I'm seeing here sure isn't of the same caliber IMO.

Sweet fancy Moses, where can I order a hard copy of this?

I actually apparently got the very last first edition V&V book sent to me (along with a nice note from Jeff, 20 something years ago) from the warehouse to replace a copy that'd been stolen. It's been sitting (along with the book and my favorite second edition modules) waiting for LL for some time. :D

The mini gaming con GuardianCon is primarily a V&V venue, generally a superhero gaming con. It's this weekend at Lynnwood, WA. Its held every last weekend of June. If you love V&V and can make it, check it out.

Ah, a welcome addition to the gaming community. V&V was the first supers campaign I ever ran and it brings back some wonderful memories. Thanks for this great thread!

Oh, and thanks all you guys, for all the nice stuff you're saying.

Jeff, I just want to say thanks for inspiring me to produce RPG art for a living! Your Legends & Lore artwork (specially the Egyptian Pantheon) are among the best I've seen for any edition!

P.S.: Hi everybody! This is my first time on EN World, and I don't know how often I'll be back, but I see a lot of questions so here I am.

Big fat ENworld welcome, Jeff. Thanks for popping in to ask questions.

BTW, I remember being inspired by your D&D artwork too, esp from deities and demigods all those years ago :)

Speaking of "living legends"... :)

Welcome to ENWorld, Jeff! I hope you get to keep dropping in.

You were a big influence for me in the early days, and I look forward to seeing what Living Legends has to offer.

Ah Yes V&V

Also an old timer that V&V was the 2nd RPG my group played and the longest running campaign. The one thing that V&V did that blew all other superhero games out of the water (in my opinion) was that the characters were not remotely balanced. We had one character in our group with 2 powers and one with 5. But that worked because of the superhero genre, where few if any Comicbook teams had any sembalance of balance.

Being a point based construction, I am sure LL departs from this, but I will still be checking it out.

Same guy. You're entitled to your opinion, of course, but my only problem with the artwork is there isn't enough of it.

That's because you deserve it :)

V&V was the second superhero game I owned, but the first one I ran. I never really could understand the rules to Superhero 2048, now how to implement the ones I did, so I was kinda stuck. V&V changed all that, and I made two boxes of chaacters on 3x5 index cards rolled into a typewriter, with cutout pictures on the back. I statted out every Marvel and DC villian and hero I could think of. Even Dr. Bong. It was a tremendous hit.

We still use all the counters from the adventures, at least the cool counters you did. For years it was the only source for multiple police and criminal counters available. Even when we used Cardboard Heroes for the PC's, everyone else was represented with a V&V counter. We dumpsterdived at conventions, finally pulling up the counter collections.

I still have the Eclipse series, and I bought it mainly because it had Shatterman. I still think that's one of the best superhero names and costumes I've ever seen.

Can't wait for the new stuff.

Good to have you back.
