Viper Strike Effect

Hi all,

In the effect of the Warlord Attack 1 "Viper's Strike" it states:

Effect: If the target shifts before the start of your next turn, it provokes an OA from the ally of your choice.


Now, the question is, does the Warlord have to HIT the target for this effect to work? If the Warlord declares this At-Will power, attacks, and then misses, can the target shift awat without the effect kicking in?

No, he doesn't. Effect lines occur regardless of hit or miss.

As far as I understand it, if the power doesn't have an effect listed under the miss heading, it only works on a hit.

I understood incorrectly it seems.

The Effect header works every time you use the power, regardless of whether you hit or miss.

Powers tend to have 3 effect lines:

Hit - occurs only when you hit
Miss - occurs only when you miss
Effect - always occurs, stacks with Hit or Miss.
