Good god. How can any self-respecting bard have no ranks in Perform? Even from a purely number-crunching perspective, did the player not even read the PHB or something?

The player wanted the bard class for the balance between spells and ranged combat ability, plus bardic knowledge. He provided excellent ranged support and was a very viable character -- the player left the area, but the character is doing some solo adventures by email.
