Level Up (A5E) Visual Art Speciality and touch spells?

The Visual Art Speciality of a bard lets them "When using this art as a spell focus, whenever you cast a bard spell you may choose to make an ally able to see you the point of origin of that spell. You must be able to see any targets of the spell" Does this mean that a bard could cast a touch spell like "Cure wounds" and use one ally as the point of origin to heal another ally that is standing next to the first ally, essentially allowing "cure wounds" to be a ranged spell?

Touch spells would be questionable, depending whether the DM says the target actually needs to be touched, which the ally is not doing, or just need to be within that range.

If they're fine with it, or the ally is touching the target, then you're good

I might rule that the ally needs to use a bonus action to actually touch the target. A touch spells requires a touch after it is cast.

Counterquestion... does a spell have to have a Material Component that you can exchange for a Spell Focus or can you add a Spell Focus to any of your spells?
