I've been fairly cursory with my web searches so far, but so far the problem seems to be that books seem to fall into one of 3 categories:
1. Spellbooks and the like for believers.
2. Sensationalistic stuff.
3. Apologetics.
I don't want the kind of fluff publishers sell to the kind of people who believe in this stuff. I don't want the sensationalistic stuff, which seems to focus on the new world, in any event. I don't want the whitewashed "'splain it to the Christians/Westerners" stuff.
Guess I'm going to have to up my research game for this one. Thanks for the tip about Davis.
I might just have to bite my lip and go with the old, slaver- and abolitionist-distorted sources.
