Here is something that I agree with and satisfies the Holy Symbol problem.

Sounds good, but the exception is a spell component pouch for material components.

Of course, I am certain it was just an oversioght and I would allowe divine foci of whatever type (simple ones only, of course).

Right- while it is entirely conceivable that a DF would fit in a spell component pouch, they are specifically excluded from what is contained in one when first purchased, and as such, must be purchased seperately. Additionally, spell component pouches function (non-magically) like H's Haversacks...the pouch's owner is assumed to always have simple, non-expensive components in them in the amounts needed.

Several people have interpreted the descriptive language in the pouch's entry in the equipment section to mean that the spell component pouch CANNOT hold a DF...and since its not specifically allowed elsewhere within the VoP, the ascetic cannot carry a DF.

I think by now most people could guess my opinion on that interpretation.
