Vow of Poverty + Soulknife

1) I'm solidly on the side that allows the use of the mind blade. Its a class feature- a manifestation of his mental power- not a true object owned by the PC. In fact, it is less an object than a magical tatto which has been ruled to be a class feature. Tattoos require time and money to have them applied- the mindblade is just an innate power.

2) I have seen unsubstantiated rumors that the person who drafted VoP didn't intend to exclude Holy Symbols.

3) That said, I find VoP to be poorly drafted- RAW, it does a very poor job of modeling the sources that inspired it, namely holy persons of history and legend who have taken such vows.

(There was a HUGE thread about it in the past year, but I no longer have it in my subscription folder.)

Actually a holy symbol is not on the list of things that can be "owned".

IN the Save My game articles on Vow of Poverty they also make reference to the fact that a character can't have a holy symbol if he takes the vow of poverty.

I would allow a VoP Cleric to have a Holy "Brand" in place of a Holy Symbol. A literal brand in their flesh. It just seems to fit the theme of VoP to me...
