By the rules if you can have line of effect to cast out of the dome then your enemies will have line of effect to cast spells into the dome.

However you certainly gain melee and ranged attack protection as well as a making it difficult for people to send fireballs into the dome.

The entire concept of the arrow slit is that it reduces the target profile of person on the other side: Since you see and aim with only a small part of your own body, from up close, the arrow slit does not impede your ability to aim since the portion of your viewing area blocked by the non-open areas is considerably less than it is for someone outside, far away.
Read the cover rules. Cover in ranged combat is not the same for both combatants... if you are standing at an arrow slit, then you have good cover but the enemy has no cover for you.
