Wand in a Weapon?

Are there any rules for making a wand out of somthing more useful than a stick? Staffs can be made into quarterstaffs or cudgels- would there be anything unbalancing about allowing a wand to be made out of a nonmagical masterwork weapon? Are there any variant rules published regarding it?

Make it a rod (you can use those as clubs, usually)

By RAW, rods aren't used for the same purposes as wands (you may already know this, but some people confuse the two, so I thought I'd clarify).

Do you people think it would be fundamentally unbalancing or broken to allow it to give random items the properties of wands, staff, and rods?

I.e. allow for example to enchant a dagger to function as a wand of lightning? Or to allow a ladder to function as a immovable rod, or a bed as a staff of healing? I mean are there really any strong reasons to restrict these things to 'sticks'?

As long as all the given pricing policies exist, I see no problem whatsoever. In fact, I see a lot of potential for improved rules on it, which I am currently adopting.

Oooh. Color me curious. Where can I get a glimpse at the house rules you're adopting for this? Not here, of course, because this is the rules forum.

Not at all.

To the OP: I don't want to step on house rule toes, but you could also at Arcana Unearthed (the malhavoc press book). Item creation feats run as 'Create Spell Completion Item', 'Create Charged Item', 'Create Weapons and Armor', etc. We use them, and they've worked well.

IMHO, the cost of a masterwork weapon (or other masterwork item) added on to the cost of the wand would be enough.

PS: Of course, the "wand" disintegrates when the charges are used up... even if it's also a dagger.
