While Waterdeep is far to the north, they're on the coast...so snowfall totals won't be nearly what you'd get inland. I mean, they get blizzards and tons of snow, but you wouldn't get as much as in the mountains.

This is just my 2cp, but I'd base Waterdeep's annual snowfall on cities such as:

Halifax, Nova Scotia
Anchorage, Alaska
Novasibirsk, Russia

Doesn't the Watchful Order of Magists and Protectors deal with that? :) I mean, since the Blackstaff and the Lords of Waterdeep are looking after everything else?

It has been a joke between me and a friend of mine for a while now. Almost everyday is heavy snow. Look at the web site regularly and you'll see what I mean

Heh..heh.

If that were the case, you'd have a Donner party fiasco every winter. Actually that might be a cool angle for an adventure.

Your party, half-dead from your trek across the frozen nothern dalelands, comes across a city...half buried in the unrelenting snow. When you finally make it to the edge of town, you realize that these are not just your average city-folk, but cannibalistic sociapaths that long for some outside interaction...and the taste of your warm blood and flesh.

Sounds like a Stephen King novel. :)

Nice idea, but it can be foiled by a 1st level spell: Endure Elements (cold) has a duration of 24 hours. I guess that must be what Waterdavians do... :-/

Heh!

Seriously, you'd think a city with that kind of magic at its disposal would have wizards messing with the weather every chance they got.

Actually this sounds a lot like some FR characters I've played with ...
