G'day!

The latest Miniatures Errata is up, and it includes an interesting piece of errata for all those who followed the Sunder/Full Action issue.

The original text of the ability is as follows:
Mighty Swing (Ex): Starting at 4th-level, a war hulk can make a mighty swing. A mighty swing is like a great swing, except that it is a standard action rather than a full-round action. Thus the character can move and make a mighty swing or (if he can make multiple attacks) make multiple mighty swings in a single round.

This has been errataed to the following:
Mighty Swing (Ex): Starting at 4th-level, a war hulk can make a mighty swing. A mighty swing is like a great swing, except that it is a attack action rather than a full-round action. Thus the character can move and make a mighty swing or (if he can make multiple attacks) make multiple mighty swings in a single round.

Although I'm not quite sure where the term "Attack action" comes from, it does make it more likely that table 8-2 in the PHB (Actions in Combat) is wrong, and that Sunder should be "Action Type Varies" or even "Attack Action", if that is a usable term.

Cheers!

An attack action is a standard action, like casting a spell, activating most magic items, etc. When you do an attack action, you get to make one attack roll (usually). This is in contrast to a full attack action, where you get to use all your iterative attack rolls, plus any other attack rolls from feats, etc.

The text is contradictory. Just because a mighty swing is an attack action doesn't mean you therefore get multiple mighty swings with a full attack action. I think they meant that a mighty swing substitutes for an attack roll.
