War of Burning Sky 4E

I've heard good things about War of the Burning Sky, and I've also heard it will be getting converted over to 4E. I seem, however, to missed any information on what kind of schedule to expect for that type of conversion.

I'm currently involved in a weekly AoW game still running in 3.5, but more and more the inmates are starting to talk about converting it over to 4E. More importantly, I've already agreed to take a spin DMing after Chapter 6 so that current DM wants to take a break then. I likely have a few months, but since AoW hasn't been exceptional so far, I've begun thinking about some alternatives.

So I guess this thread has two purposes: 1) let me know when War of the Burning Sky will be officially showing up for 4E and 2) sell me on it! (Shouldn't be hard ... I'm a sucker :P)

I think they're working on the first adventure now. How long do you have until you start DMing? You could try to do a conversion of the first one yourself, and then merge into the official 4e version when they come out.

It's possible that they plan on making some changes to the opening act to support more of a 4e gaming style.

Well, just in case you haven't seen it, here's the main website for WotBS: EN World D&D / RPG News War of the Burning Sky

It says the 4th edition version is coming out in 2009.

This thread has pages from the compiled 3.5 version: http://www.enworld.org/forum/e-n-publishing/242212-war-burning-sky-hardcover-preview-images.html

I was the director of the original campaign saga, but after over a year working on the same project I'm letting someone else deal with the conversion to 4th edition. Nevertheless, I'm damned proud of the whole project.

What kind of game do you like to run? I'll tell you how you can use WotBS to help you create a great campaign.

We'll know the release dates for WotBS 4E as soon as that damn revised GSL turns up.

The first three adventures, the Player's Guide and the Campaign Guide are already written.

Wow, thanks for the replies! :)

Lets see: catsclaw, I have some time until its my turn to start DMing. We've had one session of Ch. 5 so far, and I think we're going all the way through Ch. 6 before I pick up my turn ... I'd guess sometime in January or February.

RangerWicket, thanks for the links, that helped a lot. Now I've definitely excited about WotBS 4E! :)

Finally, Morrus, curses! That dratted GSL holding things up! Hopefully the Rouse gets things sorted through soon.

Thanks guys!

It'll come out one way or the other. I'd just rather it was with the nice revised GSL.
What if you just started publishing it with the current GSL, get permission from Scott Rouse to allow you to "migrate" it over when the new one arrives, and get it in our stinking little mits?!?!

Dang it! I needs me my 4e WotBS! :D

(Seriously, though, with all the other publishers getting stuff out now, I think you are safe enough to just go for it. You'd get me to buy the subscription today.)

What if you just started publishing it with the current GSL

Because the current GSL tells us we have to get rid of our 107 OGL products, including all of WotBS so far.

I'm holding out for the revised GSL, but if it doesn't appear soon w'll have to look at other options. As I said, the 4E version is well underway (3 adventures and two guides already written!) so we're committed to producing it one way or another.

As soon as I make a decision, the subscription will appear. But don't hold your breath too much - I'm not rushing anything! We still have the 3.5 WotBS hardcover compiled version to come, and that's the current priority. :)

I love how that GSL is holding up our entire industry in one way or another. Some are waiting for an alternate GSL, others are forming new companies to use it and remain safe while yet others forge ahead without the GSL.
