Warblade builds

My Warblade is a Dwarven Warblade/Bloodstorm Blade. Ranged Dwarven Waraxe! Oh yes.

Would probobly work just as well with a human, You can use any weapon for a ranged attack and once you get level 4 or 5 of BsB your weapon returns instantly so you can full attack at range. You also get to use certain manuvers at range (I forget which set it is though). Basically you can kick ass in melee AND at range. Fun, fun, fun.

One thing that is a MUST. Jack your Concentration up and take the manuvers that substitute a Con check for Will and Reflex saves. YOu can't have these ready all the time, but if you have a space available or if you know your facing a caster, dragon, etc. These have saved my bacon more times than I can count.

I think I am going to go straight human warblade. I have seen a lot of good stuff, this forum included online, and I am pretty sure I am going to use Iron Heart and Diamond Mind. So I would ask at this point, at 5th level what feats should would you all recommend, and with 9k gold to spend what equipment would you consider essential.

Any favorite maneuvers?

Get a +1 armor, +1 cloak of resistance, and a +1 weapon. Gloves of Str +2 would be pretty decent too.

Full Power Attack + Emerald Razor is a sight to behold. :)

In response to what your new-to-D&D friend should play:

I recommend Warmage from Complete Arcane. Basically like a Sorceror, but better hitpoints and he can wear armor. Your party sounds like it needs a good Artillary Caster and the great thing about the Warmage is that he doesn't have to worry so much about picking "the right spells" since they're all pretty much picked for him.

I looked at complete arcane last night actually. The problem with that warmage, is that I dont want him to think that because he is wearing armor he can fight as that seems like a good way to get him killed. Also I would prefer as a member of the group that he have a diverse array of offensive spells and some that are more utilitarian.

For me, I hope to be a guy who can move in ahead of the group and start doing heavy damage consistently, and i expect the monk to act in a flanker role to increase my chances to hit and damage. I like diamond mind mainly for the perceived defensive bonuses it gives, although I would need to look more closely.

So you want to be able to get into the fray quickly, deal big damage, and not get killed while doing so?

It seems like it would just suffice to say, "stick to ranged attacks and spells, because you'll probably die in melee." If he takes feats like Arcane Disciple from Complete Divine, and the spell-like ability feats like Insightful from Complete Arcane, he'll have a pretty broad array of spells to cast and still be less likely to die because of his improved hp and ac.

I'm sure you know better than me what would work for the campaign, but it's worth running by him, I think. :)
