Warcraft Manual of Monsters

Just received the book from Amazon, anyone else have this? I looked over the past few pages and didn't see a review, or did I just get this months after everyone else again?

No...I just got it myself and i think it as a whole is a very good product.
These truely are the monsters of Warcraft!
I think my favorite part of the book is the Art, other than that is give a section on how to take monsters from other D20 products.

All in all i give it a personal 4 out of 5 skulls

They ARE done up in 3.5 stats and such. Wouldn't this basically be a monster manual compatable with D&D? Or is there something special that makes it different..?

I haven't gotten the book yet, but it is on my short list of things to pick up. When I do get it, I'll post it here.

If its anything like the Everquest monster book, then its only going to be of marginal interest to D&D players. The Everquest monster book reprinted variations on numerous monsters we are familliar with. Now don't get me wrong, and epic level kobold is very cool, but it certainly wasn't a new monster concept by any stretch of the imagination, and neither was about half of that book. The others that were somewhat interesting had spell-like abilities that referenced spells found only in Everquest. In order to use that monster you have basically 3 options. You can do the research, figure out a comparable D&D spell, and then houserule it. You can choose to ignore any abilitied that don't have D&D names. You can also just adjust it on the fly. Regardless of what you choose, its still an inconvenience unless you happen to be playing Everquest.

Is Warcraft like this for sure? I saw it in my local gaming store, I didn't pick it up, but I did glance at it. Many of the monsters have the same basic concepts and names as the ones in the Monster Manual. As for the spells, I can't say whether or not they used standard D&D spell names or not. I would assume that they did though. Can anyone who has it confirm or deny this?

After reading through it more, all of the monsters are pretty much 3.5 style, there are some differances, but the changes are for monsters to follow the Warcraft core book.

very simple and minor, some might not need it.
I seems to be more of a guide for 3.0 monsters.

The Warcraft setting is fully D&D3.5 compatible. It, er, kinda says it right on the books. Everquest is OGL-only. The monsters in the Manual of Monsters are just monsters from the Warcraft setting. So, it's like the Creature Collections, Fiend Folio, or what have you. Sure, some may have the same names as "official" D&D monsters, but the stats are totally compatible. It just depends on if you want Warcraft-flavored monsters or if you play in the Warcraft setting. If you wanted, you could replace your Monster Manual with this book and have no problems. But, I'm not saying to do that.
