First Post
Alliance & Horde Compendium, the next book in the Warcraft RPG line, releases to stores this week.

A&H is a 128-page softcover book, priced at $22.95 US.

This book delves further into the relationships between the Alliance and the Horde, as well as discusses in depth the role of Independent affiliations and races. It accounts for the events of the Frozen Throne, thus updating the timeline of the setting from the core book.

Below is a quick synopsis of the book's content:

  • Chapter One: The New Blood: new races (Wildhammer dwarf, blood elf, furbolg, gnome, naga, pandaren, and jungle troll); new prestige classes (death knight, demon hunter, dwarven avatar, marksman, necromancer, primal, warmage, and windrider); new feats.

  • Chapter Two: Choosing Sides: in depth discussion of Alliance, Horde, and Independent races, accounting for events of the Frozen Throne; updated information on races presented in the core book (Ironforge dwarf, high elf, night elf, human, goblin, half-elf, half-orc, orc, and tauren).

  • Chapter Three: The Craft of War: mass combat rules, taken from Cry Havoc by Skip Williams (published by Malhavoc Press).

  • Appendix: Weapons of War: details several siege weapons and special types of ammunition.

All Warcraft RPG releases are compatible with v.3.5 d20, so the material in A&H can also be used in any 3.5 fantasy campaign.

A fuller update about the current status of the Warcraft RPG line can be found here.

If you have any questions, let me know!

Take care,
Mike

I'm more curious if S&SS allowed the Fiery Dragon guys access to CC3. I think the gnolls in Warcraft should ride them boars as well. :)

Just wondering James.. how consistent are the books with the upcoming World of Warcraft MMORPG?

Not sure who James is, but as Mike, I can try to answer. :D

Up to Magic & Mayhem, the fourth book in the line (to be released in Spring 2004), we've stuck pretty much to the RTS games and expansions for reference.

With Lands of Conflict, the fifth book (to be released in Summer 2004), we'll be using a lot of material from Blizzard developed for World of Warcraft, primarily because LoC is a setting book. The concerns of an RPG setting are, of course, a little different than a MMORPG setting, so the relationship between the two will not be 1:1, so to speak. Still, the towns, some of the NPCs, several locations, and other little bits will be similar. LoC will not, however, serve as a resource for those playing WoW, nor vice versa really.

I hope that helps!

Take care,
Mike

I just got the monsterbook, i love this stuff. I haven't had time to read it yet, but i've been drooling at the images, i can't wait for the mass combat rules warcraft style...

Thanks for the insights Mike! :) Btw if you could score me a copy of WC III and the expansion I'll send you a Christmas Tree! ;)

Hey at least yours was a better excuse Kruggy. I spent Monday/Tuesday playing Dungeon Siege for over 30 hours...Now THAT'S a waste of time. :p :)
