Wardens in Fantasy

I like the Warden class and I'm planning to play one in my next game. However, my main problem with it is that there's a dearth of archetypes to draw on. There seem to be very few characters in fantasy who you can point to and say "That's a warden!"

So can anyone find examples of Wardens in fantasy to draw inspiration from?

Wardens as seen in D&D? Not a single one.

Defenders of nature, with the power to take on elemental/plant forms? You could theoretically use Swamp Thing (and his daughter Tefé), Poison Ivy, Captain Planet...

The first two that popped into mind for me were Bernard from Codex Alera and Morgan from the Dresden Files. Both are strong elemental magic-users with ties to earth. In combat, both like to use their earth powers to throw their enemies around, pin them to the ground, and trip them up. Bernard has the bonus of also using plants, but neither of them shapeshift into elemental forms.

When I did the initial work on this class with Rob Heinsoo, I had the forestals (from the Thomas Covenant books) in mind for the warden class. Not a perfect fit, but it's close.
