Warforged Bonus languages

Warforged have no bonus languages. This is a known feature of Warforged, and I don't have an issue with this.

However, what about the Warforged Wizard? Wizards get to substitute Draconic for one of their bonus languages. Can a Warforged Wizard take Draconic since they have no bonus languages to substitute?

(It seems someone at WotC believe they can, because the Warforged Wizard fastplay character for Mark of Heroes has done this. I'm just curious at the general opinion here.)

I think any nice DM would just let them have Draconic as a bonus language, but by the RAW, the only way to get it is to spend 2 skill points to put a rank in Speak Language(Draconic). Are you sure the fastplay character didnt spend the skill points on this?

Edit: This is kind of off the subject, but . . .

Warforged and Wizard, despite their coolness, is generally a bad Idea anyway, -just because of his innate arcane spell failure chance. If you want to play a "caster" type, a much better option is the psion. no ASF and no penalty to dependent ability score.

RoE have a feat which makes the warforged less armored. Don't recall all of the details and I left that book home today. I believe it makes them totally unarmored with no ASF. Makes spellcasters more possible.

Warforged psion? Hmm.....

Warforged War Mages with Mithril Body. This to me is actually an ideal combo and fits in with fluff as well I would think.

I'll note that the Mark of Heroes fastplay Warforged Wizard has a special ability if you bring the miniature to play him. He can spend an action point to reroll his ASF if he fails it.

I like this so much, I might make it a houserule in my regular campaign for ASF. It seems reasonable.

Who cares about spell failure...

Just to jump in, I have been playing a warforged diviner in full plate from level 1 to 11. I only have a few levels in wizard but so long as you just take the many Verbal only spells you can do fine. Mixed with a Stilling lesser metamagic rod I have gone several gaming sesions in a row without ever loosing a spell to spell failure even with 75% chance (mithral tower shield also). And the ability to cast repair magics even with the 35% from the armor has come in very handy. (And its fun to brag that I learned magic dispite being always traped in a tin can.) And once get to high levels Spellsword is always a valid option.

Oh, and I did take draconic as a 1st level bonus language because wizard adds it to the list.

Technically, the wizard class ability allows you to substitute one of the languages in your racial list of bonus languages for Draconic. If it was a simple case of adding to the list of bonus languages, in the same way that Clerics get to add Abyssal, Celestial and Infernal, and Druids get to add Sylvan, there wouldn't be much point to this thread.
