Warforged haters can at least say, in all thruthfulness, that "warforged are too anime!". :)

With very little rules change, the warforged can be made into a plant race.

Hey, that gives me an idea... now where's that Dragon-submission guideline...

This concept predates Eberron and the warforged by a few years

Yeah. In Sci-fi superhero comics....

Rom: Spaceknight

I like your take, but it's so close. :)

FWIW: I like Warforged, want them soon, just not in the PH1.

((And I may steal your Bronze Legion to sate my sad, sad like of Rom: Spaceknight))

As I'll be designing a new homebrew for D&D4e, I have absolutely no objection to warforged being in the PHB. I can't wait to start thinking about where they come from in my setting and how the fit into the whole. :)

Cheers, Marcus

Ohh dear....I hadnt thought about that.

Although in practice I think they are pretty different.

I dont know if someone said this already. But if they make it into core you can always disallow them in your games... Still, I think it is DM control. If you dont like it, dont allow it. very simple.
Please see this post for a counter to that argument.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but I got the impression from the playtest articles that the warforged were converted to 4e for those particular games. If that's true, that doesn't really tell us anything about whether or not they'd be in the PHB.

As much as I like them, they are a very setting-specific race and I'd be surprised if they were in the PHB I. Especially considering Points of Light.

I don't think so; if they were 'house converting' stuff, they'd've converted the Illumian, and they didn't. Now, they might have an early version of the 4e Eberron races to work with (because you can bet that if they're not in PH1, they'll be in an early web enhancement or D&D Insider splat; same goes for gnomes or half-orcs if they get the axe from PH1), but I wouldn't be too surprised if warforged are in.

I think that flavour-wise, the Warforged are an awesome addition to Eberron. But we're not getting 4e Eberron at the beginning anyway, so they should wait for the PHII. Though they work so well in Eberron, the Warforged are not thematically appropriate for a large number of settings, so much so that it would be silly to put them in the PHI, in my opinion. The Changeling would be a much better choice if they insist on having a race from Eberron in the first standard PH.

I was gonna say pretty much the same thing.

I loves me some warforged...in Eberron.

Hm. Well, I think they'd be much more appropriate as a web enhancement than a member of the book itself. They just really don't make sense to me in this "points of light" concept, as I see it. Maybe as we get more info on the implied setting it will make more sense, but it seems like everyone is very isolated. Where do you get the magical know-how and resources to mass-produce a race of sentient golems and send them to the far corners of a plane? Of course, I'm assuming that Eberron warforged fluff remains in tact; they may overhaul it entirely.

I would have a hard time swallowing them as a PC race in the PHB I, and I'm only guessing, but I don't think I'm in the minority.
