Oz, oddly enough, had a number of sentient constructs...the Tin Man not being one of them.

Tik-Tok(*), the Scarecrow, Jack Pumpkinhead, Scraps the Patchwork Girl, the Sawhorse.... I'm probably missing some; I'm not really an Oz fan.

They ain't warforged, but the principal's the same.

Point? Damned if I know.

But do the Warforged fit in with the Dwarves, and Elves, and all the rest? I see no reason why not. D&D is a genre all its own, and it's been evolving all along. There's a dozen different ways to make the Warforged fit, and my only objection is the PHB will be tying them to a specific background, and won't be making them "Generic".

Personally, though, I'm holding out hope for the Changeling in the new PHB. I love those guys, and it's a pretty common archetype to boot.

(*)Originally typoed as "Tiki-Tok". Obviously, the Polyneitzchians have a construct.

Tiki-tok is a massive Easter Island head with legs that the Poly's built out of the remains of their volcano god after he exploded... that's beautiful... and it goes without saying that I now have to attack the party with it, and by 'party' I mean their base city.

I voted to keep them out of the PHB. They only make sense in their native setting. And I don't think that belongs in a core book.

They make perfect sense in my homebrew.

Can we keep them now? :)

A shell of wood, fibrous material and steel should be immune to fatigue, posion, disease and hunger. That also means it should not be a PC race.
Warforged bodies are not only alive, not the shell (for the consciousness or the soul) you describe them as being, but most of their wooden and fibrous parts are actually pretty much plant matter - are you suggesting that plants are immune to poison, disease, and starvation? ;)

the poll needs an option for including Warforged in the Eberron Campaign Setting only.

As for core, they have absolutely no place there - leave them in Eberron where they belong.

Love 'em.

I'd be cool with Warforged in the PHB 4e. Makes up for years of PHB-gnomes :p

I'd be fine with them not showing up until Eberron 4e also.

No option for "don't really care; they're an alright race that has as much reason to be in the PHB as any non-historic race"
