Warforged vs Intelligent Items

Whats the difference between the two of them? I mean, I get the sense that Warforged are supposed to be [very] difficult to create-but is it harder than just making an ambulatory intelligent item which also has a mind of its own?

The Warforged are sentient constructs, not just intelligent items. They have their own souls, kind of. they each have a different personality and different attitude. An intelligent item is merely an item with an ego and a person's soul in it. A Warforged has it's own soul
