Warhammer FRP

That's a rather rude assumption you're making there, that because you don't see something, I'm only seeing it because I want to

Whoa - take yourself seriously much? Ease off there friend - no insult was intend (or written I thought).

Reading this latest edition has got me hankering to run Warhammer again. I'll probably stick with 1E and add in Fotune Points though.

I've been running a WFRP2 game now for about 8 months. We meet every other Wed. night at the local gaming store. So far, we like it a lot. I've always tended towards a middle to low magic game anyway and WFRP2 really lends itself to that.
The only thing we've changed is that we've adopted the "Wounds on Location" rules that I found on the web (my apologies to the author - I don't have my stuff with me and can't remember his name).

My players have shown a remarkable hesitation to use their fortune/fate points. After thinking about it, I may have to go over the rules for their use again before we start this week. Maybe they just forgot about them.

Anyway, we really love the system. About 1/2 of our group are almost strictly miniatures guys, the other have play RPGs and miniatures. I'm the only non-miniatures one in the group.

We've had about 10 or 12 sessions now so I'd be happy to answer any questions about play or mechanics.

later.
Greg.

Mmmmmmmm, sorry :heh:

Too much caffeine, not enough sleep, bah. I've gotta get into the habit of giving people the benefit of the doubt....

No problem. :) I've done the same myself (although for me it is the no sleep and blinding pain lately - major shoulder problems going on).

Is it time for a group hug? :uhoh:

Has any character death occured? Was a potential PC death mitigated my DM fiat (a major companent to my Warhammer experiences)? Are there Insanity rules (I haven't managed to get through teh whole book yet and haven't had much reading time lately) and how have they affected play? Anyone lost a limb yet? ;) Do you find the combat maneuvers more or less cumbersome than core D&D?

Even though these aren't aimed at me, I'll hve a go...

No. Actually, the PCs have been remarkaby successful in combat. Which is kind of nice, but I'm worried they'll get a rude shock sometime soon.

No, but you thow that the Fate Points allow that as a rule right?

Are there Insanity rules (I haven't managed to get through teh whole book yet and haven't had much reading time lately) and how have they affected play?

Yes there are. There's about 8 pages of them. They're prety basic descriptions of the insanities for the most part, but my PCs are racking up the insanity points fairly quickly, so there's every chance we'll see something soon.

Anyone lost a limb yet? ;) Do you find the combat maneuvers more or less cumbersome than core D&D?

No limbs lost... yet.

As for combat I think it's less cumbersome. There's not a huge range of options or anything.

Yes, a character died at the hands of a troll, it was ok because he was a troll slayer, he had used his "points" earlier and did not have any. Insanity is not as drastic as in v1 or so it appears to me, the rules while they can effect play are more character background, player and DM work together to how it will effect them. No limb loss yet. Combat maneuvers are less cumbersome, no AoO confusion.

Is anyone out there actually playing Warhammer FRP? Just nod if you can hear me. Is anyone running this at home?

*Nods*

I am one screwed up Halfling Charlitan.

No, but we've come very close.

No, we're all adults and we're ready to have our character die. But we get to live if we're clever or lucky.

Yes there are, and no they have not... But we're getting there.

Anyone lost a limb yet? ;)

No PC's have lost limbs, NPCs have not been so lucky.

Right now, they are more cumbersome for me because I don't know the rules as well and we've only played like... Four or five times. I'd have to say that they're probably about the same once you get the hang of it.

In the games that I have run so far, death has happened, but the POTENTIAL for death was very high and made battles pretty exciting (IMO)

Not only are their Insanity rules in the WHFRPv2 but they take up MORE pages then combat ;) So far I have only had one person be affected by Insanity and it was pretty funny, but I have been running mostly low-magic/fantastic monsters so they have not been exposed to too much yet...

I personally REALLY like the combat maneuvers, and thing the game runs pretty smooth so far.
