Oh and most "heroes" upon finding a magic item will usually bury it.

Cultists - some truly mean cultists. And home to, possibly, one of the finest adventure paths ever written.

If you're interested in learning more about WFRP, then I suggest checking out the Small But Vicious Podcast.

oldscool is a very knowledge gent about the game, and for anyone looking to learn more about the feel of the WFRP setting, they are an excellent resource.
Someone has a transcript or the cliff notes? I am not sure when I get the time to sit down and listen to a podcast...

Does anybody know if there's a Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying game demo somewhere? I would like to run it but I can't seem to find any.

Also, what is a WHFRPG about? In DnD it's by default (your campaign may vary) go in, kill things, steal their treasure and maybe save some people. Or maybe save a town.

This seems a bit difficult in WHFRPG where you might play a rat catcher instead of a paladin, an outlaw instead of a ranger. Swords seem to actually main you and magic... well.. magic seems to be a triple edged sword.

Whats the playstyle like? What do you do?

And what do you do in Warhammer 40k?

I think you kind of nailed the overall gist of Warhammer, but in that you start out in the careers of ordinary people who are thrusted into adventure or an opportunity to make some money, but along the way, you end encountering that the world is truly a vile and horrific place filled with cultists, madmen, Chaos, and that there are forces not meant to be used, let alone understood.

The mechanics create a very gritty feel in that character death can happen, but you got to fight to survive.

In Dark Heresy 40k, you're part of the Inquisition. You start out as minions of the Inquisition machine sent out into space to find and root out heresy, destroy the minions of Chaos, and hope to not become accused of heresy yourself.

The more I read about the new game the more I suspect that it is very much like the 2e game, as far as grim and gritty and starting off lowly. Someone in the know posted about that at rpg.net.

Someone else posted that it includes the ratcatcher as a career. Someone else posted that the original box set does NOT have a limit of 3 characters, just some of the props, like the character box, is limited to 3, but that you can actually have more, they just won't have the fancy box.

I'll have to dig up the link...

Oh yeah, some of the careers that you start out with is ratcatcher, bonepicker, charcoal burner, and camp follower. In the main rule (2e), I think there is over 50 or so careers and advanced careers a player can take. Maybe more. I don't have my rulebook in front of me.

I meant that the new 3e includes a ratcatcher career. Sorry if I wasn't clear on that.

WARHAMMER FANTASY ROLE-PLAY, 1e and 2e, is the game where the players think they're playing D&D, but the game master knows they're playing CALL OF CTHULHU.

From the looks of it, 3e will be the game where the players think they're playing WARHAMMER FANTASY ROLE-PLAY but the game-master knows they're playing HERO QUEST.

My bad! I can't wait to see how FFG puts out the new career list. One of my favorite aspect of this game is that I like rolling completely randomly and play whatever I get. I just like all the careers that much.
