Warhammer with Grim Tales

I like that you can call yourself a Fighter or Warrior or Wizard, but the classes and how you build your character is a lot more open

The class system is one of the main reasons I want to use GT. I love it. I'm tired of the iconic classes. The GT class system is the closest thing to a generic system that I've seen, and that's a good thing IMO.

I have no problem with the names, I dislike the way the concept (which in itself isn't bad) is executed. ;)

I am not sure what you mean? Is it that they are too much like normal D20 D&D classes? Just wondering

A suggestion

Instead of halving the effect of healing spells, why not just take the Arcana Unearthed approach (and Wheel of Time) and have the Cure spells convert real HP damage to non-lethal damage (which still requires characters to rest after battles... and doesn't keep them on thier feet any longer than they would if they hadn't been healed... they just don't die when they keel over).

I might... nothing I have to worry about in the game I am running right now as no one has any Healing spells :D

I keep going back and forth about it...

Hmm... it's not easy to explain...

They tried to build the classes around the attributes to make them different and more flexible compared to the usual class concept, but they only succeeded in the opposite.

In general, I feel the classes are way too restrictive, because all the other factors are tied to specific attributes that way... like BAB or skill points.

Take a look HERE for further reference. :)

See, that's basically what I would like as well, but I don't see it there (note, speaking of d20 modern, I can only guess that the classes are the same in GT). :)

Take a look at the link in the post above... that's generic!

Thanks.
Well the classes in G.T. are similar to D20 Modern but they did change some stuff, but now I understand. I looked over the link, thanks... I will have to think about it... I like was you came up with there it looks good.

Well a "classless" system is a lot different than a generic class system. If you want a generic system, then Grim Tales is the best IMO. Other than MnM (which is a unique system unto itself), I still think d20 has difficulty with a classless system. It gets very complicated and even more susceptible to number-crunching. I'll stick to generic.
