Warlock Invocations

The Warlock's powers are pretty mild at high level. At low level, though, they are kind of neat. Almost but not quite overpowered.

Limiting Utterdark blast? Right...at that level the Sorc is slinging Meteor Swarms, the Wizard is Wishing, their direct damage spells are kicking out fistfulls of dice, and Mr Warlock over here's doing what? 9D6. Yay. He needs to be able to add the negative levels to stay even remotely viable.

I agree. The "at will" part may at first seem overwhelming, but when you take into account the the limited list of invocations that warlocks choose from, they're really not any more powerful than sorcerers and wizards.

At low to mid levels, the at will abilities are really cool.

I'm currently playing a warlock at 3rd level (Endur is the DM) and that's when you really start to notice that advantage. Touch attack, decent damage, and some nice minor abilities in addition to that.

But once you reach higher levels, the spellcasters have so many slots, that they rarely if ever use them all up. Then the advantage of at will is almost neglectable.

Sorry, I didn't really think about how powerful other spellcasting classes were. I just didn't want the warlock to get too powerful. I think all of you are right. Without the at will the warlock would kind of suck.
