Warlock Optimation

I am still a big fan of capping your UMD and taking Scribe Scroll at level 12 (or earlier if you don't mind a wasted feat sitting around until 12 and you want to use the level 12 slot for something with tougher prereqs.) You don't need much downtime to make useful scrolls, and with the warlock's special item creation ability, you can make and use scrolls of just about *anything*. It really broadens the capabilities of the class.

Their epic warlock feats. I think they are a bit overpowered compared to normal epic feats but the warlock gets pretty crappy at those levels otherwise, so I'm rather conflicted.

The Shadowmaster feat is incredibly useful (Shades spell & full concealment at will) as is the Dark Transient (planeshift w/o error & teleport w/o error at will) and Morphene Savante (power words blind, kill & stun at will, permanent tongues). The others have various levels of utility. Firing two extended range EBs/round isn't bad, nor is being able to double up on the essences with a higher DC. The epic fiendish resistence could be alright (fast heal 25/5minutes) for a melee warlock, especially when you take it a second time to get another use and bump up the healing to 30/5 minutes.

I haven't had a chance to see one in play so I don't know how this would balance out against epic casters or archers.

It's worth noting that the UMD check for a scroll can be significantly more difficult than for a wand. Scrolls potentially require you to UMD your way into an ability score. If you're a high-CHA 'lock then some scrolls'll be no problem, but if WIS or INT is your dump stat those UMD checks can get pretty steep.

Of course, by 12th, it might not really be an issue.

Emulate an Ability Score: To cast a spell from a scroll, you need a high score in the appropriate ability (Intelligence for wizard spells, Wisdom for divine spells, or Charisma for sorcerer or bard spells). Your effective ability score (appropriate to the class you’re emulating when you try to cast the spell from the scroll) is your Use Magic Device check result minus 15. If you already have a high enough score in the appropriate ability, you don’t need to make this check.

Also, thanks for putting up with me this morning. I had to much to drink last night, and it causes me not to be a morning person. At all.

Unnamed Warlock man.

That's a cool pic. Did you design it? I feel like I've seen it before.
