Warlock question

First Post
My warlock player just got Disembodied Hand. We both noted that the hand can move 30 feet per round, but do not see a maximum distance that it can go. Does anyone know what that may be? The closest spell (I didn't know how else to rule it) seemed to be Telekinesis, which has a range of Long. So, until I get further info, we agreed to treat it as a Long range, or as I said, about line of sight. Thoughts?

Any help is appreciated. Any errata is also.

Sounds like an effect that might not have a range.

Can the caster percieve through the hand? If so, then LOS might not even be needed.

I second the Line of Sight judgement with the proviso that breaking LoS doesn't break the spell once engaged (unless said proviso is implied in the LoS "rules", in which case, gnap.)

I don't think the description said anything about LOS. Thats why I compared it to TK, and I said long range, but as long as it is in sight.

Are all the Warlock invocations based off a spell of some sort? I know there are ones that give a "+6" to 3 skills, but the others seem to be a spell on steroids.

It looks like most of the Other Invocations have some manner of spell as a basis. Some don't have a specific spell analog but are a combination of two spell-like affects. I think the steroid feel is because of the small amount of invocations Warlocks actually receive. The design philosophy seems to be because of the reduced amount of options both available and obtainable they are a bit stronger.

I thought it was a bit much at first but after playing a Warlock for a few levels I see how it works. They are the distillation of what the Sorcerer was intended to be. With Eldritch Blast they can blithely hammer away at the opposition all day but then have a limited bag of utility effects if that's the direction they've developed. Built for combat but with a few potent tricks elsewhere.
