Warlock/Soulknife feasibility?

Any thoughts on the feasibility of a Warlock/Soulknife multiclass? The concept appeals to me for similar reasons to the monks appeal - some independance from items... it's hard to "disarm" this sort of a character. And this combo has the advantage of having better ranged capabilities than a Monk generally has I think. Thoughts? Reactions?

"Soulknife" is barely playable as single-class. Everyone knows that multi-class -- with a few exceptions involving full BAB classes -- is under powered compared to single class.

My advice: bring back the Soulknife PrC, and either do a Psionic version of the Warlock, or do an Arcane version of the Soulknife.

Note that you can take all those [Psionic] feats even if you aren't a Soulknife. Either take the Wild Talent feat, play a Psionic race, or talk to your DM about making the feats somehow available to you in Warlock theme.

The only way I can envision a warlock/soulknife coming off as anything but a sub-optimal choice is through the gestalt rules in UA. Of course, I've never felt the draw to play a soulknife so I may be wrong. The biggest problem with the mix is you weaken the main draw to both classes. The soulknife's strength is his weapon; straying too far from the class saps a lot of punch from it. The warlock's strength is his ability to use a small number of spell-like abilities an unlimited number of times; moving away from warlock further limits his incantation options.

Now, a half-powered soulknife weapon may be stronger than any weapon you could get through mundane means for your warlock, but does the presence of that half-powered weapon overcome the loss of spell-like abilities? If you're willing to accept a second-tier power level that comes from generalizing your character, you could probably have some fun with this combo. You'd still pale in comparison to a dedicated monk or sorcerer.

Sounds like a cool concept to me. I have had both classes in my campaign and, contrary to what others say on list site, neither was overpowered or underpowered. Have fun, choose your feats wisely, ignore the naysayers.
