What about homebrewing Shatter to be fire damage?

Which is available for all warlocks.
Shatter isn't a warlock spell.

I suspect someone somewhere along this grapevine is misremembering an Invocation from an old Unearthed Arcana, which never made it to print. It was called Kiss of Mephistopheles, and it let you expend a warlock spell slot when you hit a creature with Eldritch Blast to cast Fireball centered on the target.

Here’s a link to the UA.

Woah that's awesome. Too bad it didn't see print.

Amusingly, not long ago I got into a fight with some undead warlock monsters and they could all cast Shatter.

NPC's and monsters don't necessarily follow character creation rules, but shatter was a warlock spell in the 2014 rules and has been removed.

Well...

Still can homebrew it to be one.

I don't imagine it would be difficult to get a DM to allow selecting the spell. As a DM I am open to player suggestions for the their character that I'm likely to allow as an exception to the rules if it makes sense and I don't think it would break anything. As a player I have no concerns about designing my own custom patron to a DM to see if they'll allow it.
