Warlord: Your experiences

Yes, but I never had too many problems with that. But in feel they were a bit overly cautious in the warlords special case.

Also i generally feel with the only bonus available is "power bonus" and no "daily buffs" it is a bit sad, that dailies which should help the party for the whole encounter doesn´t help yourself.

(all party mebmers hit better, but you won´t get your encounter powers in)

IMHO i would have gone either with daily spells usually also affect yourself OR weapon expertise giving you access to an encounter power that lasts for the entire encounter, which gives a +1/+2/+3 power bonus to attacks with your weapons.

this is what really breaks math: leaders can´t help themselves to allow them to hit high level monsters, thus not beeing able to fullfill their role properly.

Of course, but the point of the "you can´t buff yourself" was a party where not everyone is a leader (CoDzilla) ;)

So IMHO this design failed for daily power buffs. I think maybe i houserule it out if it is really a problem in actual play. I am also inclined to allow you to be your own ally in smaller parties. (If it makes sense for the power... it makes no sense for most at will like commanders strike or righteous brand e.g.)

I DM'd a insp warlord for levels 1-8 and the player mostly had a blast.
He was a healing maximized warlord and his ability to grant the whole party
emense healing turned several battles:
Stand the fallen, stand tough, exalted armor (daily) and healers amulet(property)

with a 2H fighter (sometimes) and a rogue, leaf on the wind was also a favoriate for creating optimal postioning.

his weapon was a determined handaxe, poor attack roll, but no need to swich weapons for a 9/14 ranged attack. The attack roll problem rarely seemed to come up.

The player was the most tactically minded in the group, and it often showed.

Our Warlord is the key to our party. He's had a bad day or two, where everything misses, but overall he's very solid. He's had a number of MVP sessions as well. The high [W] attacks with his d10 weapon tend to do a lot of damage, and the Action Point bonuses are phenomenal. I'm reasonable certain we've never used an AP for either a move or minor action.
