Heh. MM4 did exactly that--offer multiple CR versions/modifications of orcs, gnolls, yuan-ti, and others--and WotC got raked over the coals for it.

I was one of those that stayed out of the MM4 bashing threads. I liked the scaled CR versions of creatures and lairs. I have ALL the different monsters I will ever need in the many different monster books from WOTC and 3rd party publishers. This is a nice change of pace I find refreshing.

Guess you can't please everyone all the time. ;)

On a personal note, while I'm potentially interested in these books, I'm simply unwilling to shell out that much money sight-unseen, and they seem (at least every place I've seen them) to come shrinkwrapped. :(

While I wasn't one of the ones complaining about the classed monsters, I will say that they're a lot more likely to be appreciated in a core book right next to their non-classed cousin.

Well, perhaps because one book is designed as a monster and lair book and the other is a Monster Manual?

One book if a one shot, the other the fourth book in a continuing line?

Nah. People are just jerks!

"Not yet released."

"Release Date: 24 July 2006"

So says Amazon... I'm confused...

This setting is admittedly most interesting...

Same boat.

If Psion got his though, I'm hopeful mine are coming.

If you have all the different monsters you will ever need, then wouldn't it have been better for you to be able to get the statblocks you wanted without being forced to buy all the new MMIV monsters you don't need?

Wouldn't it have been a LOT better if you could have received a lot more statblocks in place of those monsters you don't need for the same money?

*shrug*

It's a false dichotomy, IMO. And I never said people were jerks; I just said you can't please everyone all the time. I'd imagine that, as a reviewer, you're already far more well aware of that fact than most.

Okay, folks. I'm sorry I brought it up. Can we get back to the Accordlands in this thread, since there are about three and a half million other threads in which we can either bash or defend MM4?

They are probably shrink-wrapped because each of the books include a poster map (or two) that is not glued in. The posters would likely fall out otherwise (as they do every time I pick up the books at home :) ).
