Warlords of the Accordlands - Wow!

They are probably shrink-wrapped because each of the books include a poster map (or two) that is not glued in. The posters would likely fall out otherwise (as they do every time I pick up the books at home :) ).

Hmm...

I'd rather they were glued in, honestly. I've usually found it pretty easy to remove glued-in materials without damaging them (assuming the company uses the right type of glue, like the kind Paizo's used recently).

I fully understand why they might be reluctant, but I just can't get behind shrinkwrapping books this expensive. We're talking about a decent chunk of change for each book, let alone all four. Since I have nothing invested in the setting to start with--I'm not familiar with the game (CCG, is it?) on which it is based--the only way to turn me from a potential sale to an actual one is to let me give the books a pretty solid flip-through, to see if I'll find enough of it useful in my non-Accordlands-specific games. Until/unless I can do that, there's just no way I'm buying the books unless I find them at a substantial discount.

This is the major reason I've not even looked at the series; there are only a small handfull of games I'll buy sight-unseen. Myabe someday I can look at someone's open copies and see if it's something I'd like to pick up. Right now, there are two copies of each book sitting on the FLGS 'new game' shelf, unbought for something like 3-4 weeks.

On a personal note, while I'm potentially interested in these books, I'm simply unwilling to shell out that much money sight-unseen, and they seem (at least every place I've seen them) to come shrinkwrapped. :(
They are nice books and I don't think you will be disappointed. They are all wrapped because each book comes with two loose pullout maps.

Edit: Well, I'll be danmed. If only I had read further.

Quite understandable.

I've got 3 of the 4 - still waiting on Monsters & Lairs - and I like the small bit I've read so far (about 100 pages of the 1,200 I own), but I haven't read enough to recommend them or not recommend them. I do like the premise, though.

They have a website at http://www.warlordrpg.com/ if you want to check it out. In there is also http://www.warlordrpg.com/about.html which gives a decent overview.

Yup. I'm liable to throw these in my "big pile of maps" soon.

There's one thing to be said for boxed sets. Keeps your maps together.

On a side note about the shrink wrap... it sure kept that "printing scent" fresh. I swear when I broke the shrink wrap, the books smell like cat piss.

Same boat.

If Psion got his though, I'm hopeful mine are coming.

Did you order all 4, or just 3? I ordered all but the mosnters & lairs book, because the other three were "available in 2-4 weeks" and the M&L book was on pre-order. It could be, if you ordered all 4, the M&L book is holding you up.

Heck, I just ordered the 'core' book to see how it was!

I have all four of mine. Got the last one 2 weeks ago. Reading them a bit at a time because I'm working on a couple novels right now. Yeah, I got my M&L when amazon still only said preorder. I had left a thread on the page to let people know it was really available and shipping. *shrug*

Just as well. I don't have a terribly pressing need for new MMs as I am not currently running a D&D game, and I guess the balance of my Ptolus order went through, slamming my gaming budget for the month.

So Jeff I was wondering, have your copies arrived?
Can you tells if there are errors?QUOTE]

I have not yet received my copies, but AEG says they're on the way. So I cross my fingers and toes that they'll be here before I leave for Indy on the 8th of August so I can dig in and do some research.
